  • Overview

       

    Ensure accurate and timely capture of financial transactions from subsidiary systems and manual journal entries in the general ledger.  Provide general ledger accounting support and reporting to internal (senior management, functional areas, and department heads) and external customers (parent company, external auditors).   

     

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

       

     

    Core Accountabilities:

    • Supervise setup, closure and maintenance of G/L accounts as necessary in GL and Hyperion. Communicate close schedule and deadlines to the organization including IT. Update GL system reporting and accurately schedule GL jobs during the close process. Ensure the integrity of data in the GL and Hyperion systems. Trouble shoot issues with IT and Oracle or other third party support providers.
    • Coordinate the accurate and timely publication of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end/audit sales reporting including; Sales data warehouse, Comp Sales charts by channel, Sales by Media Type, Operating Metrics, MD&A, Cash Position and Census reporting.
    • Develop and maintain PC reporting models including numerous spreadsheets which calculate journal entries for allocations, benefit adjustments, DFS charges, Canadian freight accrual, interest expense, earnings, taxes, supplemental corporation reporting, government Census Bureau reporting and Tax Department year-end tax reports Understand and use financial systems to create efficiencies within department reporting. Build controls and review processes ensure accuracy and confidentiality of published reports such as tying sales report to the GL on monthly basis (dwfile, weekly flash). Ensure adequate reporting coverage to meet reporting deadlines.
    • Provide all data and direction to departments for analysis and adjustment for their accounts at month-end.
    • Support IS in the requirements gathering, testing, and implementation of new systems.
    • Assist outside auditors during year-end close process.
    • Maintain SOX compliance in regard to CORE JE and Reconciliation log.
    • Assist with other financial reporting projects as needed.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience Required:

    • BA / BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CMA Certificate a plus.
    • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting.
    • Excellent mainframe system and PC skills – Infor Cloud Suite Financials, Lawson, GEAC, PCLink, and Data Warehouse experience a plus.
    • Inventory/ cost accounting a plus.
    • Strong PC model development skills, including writing/editing macros and combining data from multiple sources.
    • Strong understanding of the relationship between various financial reports: Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow.
    • Understand flow of financial information from transactions to reports.
    • Ability to work independently, manage time well, and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all staff levels in Finance / Accounting and other departments as required.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as reach with hands and arms.
    • The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
    • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
    • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position.  As an International Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume.  This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
