  • Overview

    The Tax Analyst, Sales & Use Tax will act as a hands-on expert, interacting and collaborating with business partners in various departments, while working directly with the Tax Manager. Day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing basic returns, as well as preparing intermediate level and some complex indirect tax returns. Additionally the Tax Analyst assists with tax research, special projects, state licensing and tax audits.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares, and assists with preparation of sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, and supporting schedules.
    • Assists with automation of tax preparation and data collection process.
    • Analyzes tax audit and notice correspondence, prepares responses to government inquiries, assists Tax Manager with more complex strategies and responses.
    • Assists with tax planning, researching tax issues.  Writes intermediate level memos, assists Tax Manager with more complex memos/documentation.
    • Communicates with internal partners and tax authorities regarding tax issues and requirements.
    • Prepares calculations and schedules and provides other support for tax analysis related to financial statement tax provision. Supports implementation of tax related projects. Prepares recurring tax-related journal entries and reconciliations.
    • Maintain state licensing requirements.

    Qualifications

    • BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, related area or equivalent industry experience (Masters of Tax or CPA, a plus).
    • Tax return preparation experience, either in a company or in public accounting.
    • 2-4 years of tax experience.
      • Knowledge of tax return preparation software (Sovos” and “Vertex, a plus).
    • Tax research and analytical skills (CCH, a plus).
    • Intermediate level understanding of US federal, US state, and Canadian income tax and sales & use tax.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel a plus.
    • Proven ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational and deadline-management skills.
