  • Overview

    Manage activities related to internal and external financial reporting and capital spending and fixed asset accounting processes.    

     

    Responsibilities

         

    Core Accountabilities:

    Recruit, lead, motivate and develop team to perform reporting and fixed asset accounting tasks with a high level of efficiency and accuracy.
    Develop and provide financial reporting and management reporting to both internal customers (senior management, functional areas and department heads) and external customers (equity investors, bankers, government and external auditors).
    Manage the development and maintenance of Hyperion, Info CSF reports and complex PC reporting models. Responsible for definition and use of financial systems and development of accounting processes to maximize efficiency in high volume production environment. Support financial systems implementations and upgrades with requirements gathering and testing.
    Provide information and coordination of audits including external financial, subsidiary, benefits and bank audits and appraisals.
    With Director of Accounting and VP/Controller provide guidance in developing GAAP accounting policies.
    Research GAAP accounting guidance, interpret and apply to the Company. Monitor and communicate current changes in GAAP. Support compliance with Sarbanes Oxley reporting and control requirements.
    Oversee fixed asset accounting requirements with a high level of interaction with Fixed Asset Accountant, capital project owners and financial planners.
    Ensure the accurate and timely capture of selected financial transactions including FA/CP subsidiary systems, Intercompany, fixed asset, CP, foreign load, inventory overhead cap, freight-in transactions, accruals and consolidation entries. Direct accountants and analysts in resolving issues and discrepancies.
    Provide the above services in a cost-effective manner, continually seeking out opportunities to improve services and reduce costs.
    Assist with other financial reporting projects as needed.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience Required:

    BA or BS in Accounting/Finance.
    Minimum 8-10 years progressive Accounting experience including financial reporting.
    CPA and CMA helpful.
    Combination of public accounting and private accounting experience a plus.
    Retail accounting experience.
    Ability to understand broad business and financial issues.
    Thorough understanding of accounting transactions from source through subsidiary ledgers, into the general ledger and ultimately to the financial reports.
    Thorough understanding of financial statements and their relationship.
    Strong accounting, analytical skills and reasoning skills.
    Strong leadership skills and experience.
    Strong system skills/understanding (Financial, Hyperion Essbase, Infor CSF, ERP systems, Merchandising systems) and strong PC skills (Excel, Word, Access) and ability to work with large amounts of data and develop financial models.
    Proven ability to work well with others, and interface comfortably with all levels of management, within the company and with subsidiary Companies.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    Strong time management and prioritization skills with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
     

    Physical Requirements:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

    While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as reach with hands and arms.
    The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
    Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
    Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.

     

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position.  As an International Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume.  This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
