The Social Media Manager supports the Director of Marketing to drive social media strategy and approach, and integrate GTM priorities across the business. In addition, this position provides the content team with strategic channel information that helps them drive content strategies for all platforms.


  • Develop and drive execution of the overarching strategic vision and plan for EB social channels. Provide thought leadership for the brand across all categories, platforms and when partnering with external agencies.
  • Use social to drive commerce as well as brand & product story telling
  • Develop and direct social media campaigns building awareness for Eddie Bauer across all social media platforms and channels. Ensure brand voice and POV comes through in all community relations.
  • Oversee content strategies and grow Eddie Bauer’s engagement across owned social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.), and paid social media efforts (sponsored stories, promoted tweets, etc.) Provide content team strategic channel information helpful in developing strategic programming approach to content.
  • Identify opportunities to execute social media, marketing and retail partnership to drive traffic/revenue.
  • Strategize and direct Eddie Bauer social influencer program in partnership with PR Manager to identify, grow and engage loyal brand ambassadors.
  • Contribute and help inform Eddie Bauer Customer Service teams to continually provide superior customer service via social media.
  • Execute social crisis communications response efforts in partnership with PR/Crisis Communications company lead.
  • Work with Media partners on benchmarking, amplification plans, and opportunistic scenario planning and execution.
  • Maintain current knowledge of social media landscape; proactively educate agency and company partners, provide ongoing council to company.  Develop and share best practices internally and externally; seek to continuously evolve as social media platforms change.
  • Extract insights from qualitative and quantitative data sources to influence reporting and briefs.
  • Create and maintain documentation and protocol for all social processes, including response and opportunistic moment protocol.
  • Manage social media agency relationship(s).


  • 4 year degree in communications, journalism, digital media, marketing or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience developing and executing social media plans for a company or agency.
  • Outdoor industry background preferred.
  • Expert level knowledge of social media ecosystem and a track record of success in execution of social media programs.
  • Intellectually curious with a passion for learning everything in the constantly changing world of social media.
  • Highly collaborative with superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at many levels of the organization.
  • Multi-disciplined marketer; must integrate well into marketing initiatives outside of social media.
  • Creative problem solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive.
  • Nimble and able to evolve immediately.
  • Prolific intuition and sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage up, down and across the organization.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills.
  • High attention to detail.
