Do you enjoy working with internal customers with the Benefits? Eddie Bauer is looking for a Regional Benefits Partner for our Corporate Headquarters.

As the Regional Benefits Partner you will provide expertise and coordination to associates in the U.S., Canada, and Hong Kong within an assigned region for all core benefits that Eddie Bauer offers. Responsible for keeping up-to-date on federal, state, and provincial regulations as well as audit plans to maintain compliance. Provide analytical, technical and administrative support to the Manager, Benefits as well as other team members, including an assigned specialty such as Wellness, Retirement, Worker’s Compensation, Leave of Absence, and/or accommodation/ADA administration.



Core Accountabilities:

  • Work as part of a team to administer associate benefits across the U.S., Canada, and Hong Kong. Respond to associate requests and questions related to Health & Welfare, Disability, Retirement, Leaves of Absence (“LOA”) or Worker’s Compensation (“WC”) benefits.
  • Process benefits enrollment paperwork timely and checks for accuracy and completion of information. Approves and collects supporting documentation from associates for all qualifying life event benefit changes.
  • Manage LOAs, including pay component, respond to and resolve escalated leaves of absence matters. Assist in the on-going development and improvement of LOA policies and procedures. Ensure policies are current with applicable FMLA and USERRA laws, as well as state, provincial and other federal laws surrounding LOAs.  Reporting as needed.
  • Manage regional WC claims from notice to closure. Respond to third party administrator (“TPA”) requests for additional information, maintain files, data enter information in database and support the preparation of OSHA 300-A, and other required reports annually. Coordinate return to work program with associates, supervisors, TPA, vendors and internal HR partners.
  • Partner closely with Eddie Bauer payroll department to ensure timely and accurate benefit deductions are taken.
  • Regularly monitor legislation to ensure new compliance regulations are identified and planned for as appropriate.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal partners and external benefit carriers, vendors, and consultants.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Benefits to administer the benefits communication strategy on an annual basis, including: open enrollment, benefit booklets, Wellness, Summary Plan Descriptions, on-going communication and intranet updates as necessary.
  • Liaison with HRIS, and perform internal benefits queries and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations as well as timeliness and accuracy of required filings, with the support of the Benefits Administrator. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Develop, update and ensure accuracy of Summary Plan Descriptions.
    • Ensure HIPAA, FMLA, and ERISA compliance in policy and process.
    • Primary contact and individual liaison for the HR Business Partner within assigned region.
    • Work with consultants and auditors on: IBNR reporting, 5500 Filings, PPACA filings and Summary Annual Reports.
    • Applicable state and city quarterly filings related to healthcare coverage, such as San Francisco , Nevada, Vermont, or Massachusetts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of benefits laws and requirements, such as 401K, ERISA, PPACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, FEHA, ADAA Title I, Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973, EEOC Guidelines
  • Detailed knowledge of Workers Compensation laws and regulations related to return to work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel (including v-lookups & pivot tables) and Access,
  • Working knowledge of HRIS programs, experience with Ceridian Source 550, Dayforce and/or Insync a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Desire to expand knowledge base

Education/Experience Required:

  • 4-year Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of progressive benefits experience in a medium to large size multi-state company
  • Multi-country, multi-state experience preferred
  • PHR or CEBS certification a plus
