Purpose:  Strategically interpret and develop the commercialization and engineering of product to meet design vision, merchant requirements and company financial goals. Ensure products achieve the fit, construction and quality requirements to meet customer expectations, brand positioning and are aligned with Design and Merchandising objectives. This is a temporary 6 month position.


Core Accountabilities:

  • Adhere to calendar deadlines for on-time delivery of product
  • Recommend materials and construction techniques to meet or exceed IMU goals set by Merchandising
  • Use PLM system to manage technical specs for assigned departments from Design hand-off to Production
  • Work closely with Design counterpart to ensure design integrity is maintained throughout the technical development process
  • Own and manage ordering of development samples, including complete sample tracking process, to ensure samples arrive on-time to meet calendar deadlines and key presentation meetings. Evaluate sample execution with Design and communicate sampling performance with Suppliers
  • Communicate the specification and product details in timely manner with Sourcing partners and Suppliers, so that they can manage the item costing process
  • Own and manage the fitting of all samples from 1st Proto through final production approval
  • Lead fit sessions and own process of advising/correcting specification packages to meet the design aesthetic & company financial goals, while maintaining the appropriate fit for the EB customer.
  • Communicate daily with cross functional teams and Suppliers regarding all issues pertinent to accurate execution of samples throughout development process
  • Track all sample approvals for final bulk approval
  • Ensure fit intent and fit consistency by driving adherence to fit standards and block patterns.
  • Identify and proactively resolve production, quality, and cost issues with cross-functional partners prior to the start of Production.
  • Manage all communication with Suppliers related to sample development and fit approval.
  • Manage commercialization timeline. Communicate statuses of each product from development through production, ensuring calendar deadlines are met.
  • Travel to factories as needed for seasonal development.
  • Provide Sourcing team with feedback on Vendor performance specific to sample & fit execution to drive continued vendor performance improvements. Communicate issues in a timely manner for timely resolution
  • Support department workload by assisting other Managers and Sr. Technical Designers as needed.
  • Follow current market trends especially in fit and styling to enhance knowledge and therefore affect overall product fit, quality, and salability.
  • Read customer reviews on a regular basis to action any improvements or corrections that need to be made to products.


Education/Experience Required:

  • 5-7 years’ work experience in garment manufacturing, Technical Design, and specification development.
  • Two-year technical design degree with apparel focus, desired.
  • Advanced computer skills; Excel and Word is highly desired. Experience with PLM systems and 3D design systems are a plus.

  • The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
  • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
  • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on
    multiple floors throughout building.
