Are you a doer who likes to impact business teams through leading the strategy, design, and delivery of all instructional material, learning content and training initiatives across the retail organization? As a team of ONE you will actively influence corporate partners and business leaders to balance learning and development needs with the field’s capacity for execution.




Core Accountabilities

  • Lead development and execution of short and long-term learning and people development strategies, resource prioritization and results analysis; develop innovative plans and use project management methodologies to achieve desired results.
  • Manage the learning & development curriculum for the retail organization; create engaging learning activities, compelling course content and programs that develop skills, influence behavior and communication, and enhance leadership effectiveness.
  • Lead collaboration with field leaders and key cross-functional partners to develop, pilot and validate accuracy of learning content and ability to have a measureable business impact; create sustainability plans for learning program implementation, execution and delivery.
  • Act as subject matter expert and keep current in training methodologies and technology developments; use business insights and various data sets to create business justification and define ROI to support new learning technology projects and existing system enhancements.
  • Influence strategic decisions and priorities for retail stores through analysis and insights on business results and selling/leadership/customer engagement behavior opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain feedback & evaluation processes/tools to continually improve communication, process and programs in all areas of accountability.
  • Recruit, develop and retain a field training team to ensure delivery of exceptional results now and in the future.
  • Manage budget and resources (internal and external) to support the execution of all learning & development strategies for the retail organization.
  • Participate in the business planning, budget and performance target setting process.





Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of principles, methods and techniques used in the design and delivery of effective learning and development solutions, with particular emphasis on instructional technology and mobile/multimedia course development.
  • Advanced, full lifecycle project management capabilities, including significant experience managing multiple stakeholders’ expectations to a common outcome.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey strategies and complex information effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously while maintaining a clear sense of priorities for self and team..
  • Effective leadership skills. Proven ability to lead, develop and inspire a cross functional team to deliver results.


Education/Experience Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Instructional Design or Education. Master’s degree preferred.
    • 5+ years related experience in curriculum development and training delivery. Broad understanding of retail, specifically from a store leadership point of view.
    • 3+ years management experience
    • Demonstrated experience with e-learning applications and web-based authoring tools: Captivate, Articulate, Presenter, and/or Cornerstone on Demand.
    • Background in editing and maintaining web-based instructional material and e-learning/multimedia content.
    • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems a plus.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
