Overview

Act as hands-on expert, interacting and collaborating with business partners in various departments, while working on key initiatives directly with the Indirect Tax Manager and the Taxring iDirector.  This job contributes to Eddie Bauer’s success by prepantermediate level and some complex returns while reviewing other basic returns.  This job contributes to Eddie Bauer’s success by preparing required tax filings and assisting with tax research, projects, planning and audits to ensure compliance with tax laws and to minimize overall tax liabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, and assists with preparation of intermediate level tax returns and supporting schedules, some complex returns. Assists with automation of tax preparation and collection of data. (All Indirect tax-types: sales, use, gross receipts, property, and unclaimed property tax in US and Canadian jurisdictions).
  • Analyzes tax audit and notice correspondence, prepares responses to the governments, assists Tax Manager with more complex strategies and responses.
  • Assists with tax planning, researching tax issues. Writes intermediate level memos, assists Tax Manager with more complex memos/documentation.
  • Communicates with internal partners and tax authorities regarding tax issues and requirements.
  • Prepares calculations and schedules and provides other support for tax analysis related to financial statement tax provision. Supports implementation of tax related projects. Prepares recurring tax-related journal entries and reconciliations.

Qualifications

BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, related area (Masters of Tax or CPA, a plus)

  • Indirect tax return preparation experience, either in a company or in public accounting
  • 2-4 years tax experience
  • Knowledge of processes involved in outsourcing indirect tax returns or GL software (Infor, Lawson), a plus
  • Tax research and analytical skills (BNA, a plus)
  • Intermediate level understanding of US state and Canadian sales & use tax
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Account reconciliation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills, a plus)
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Organizational and deadline-management skills
