Divisional Merchandise Manager - Women's

Develop, communicate and execute assigned merchandising strategies that meet financial and marketing objectives.


Core Accountabilities:

  • Develop divisional strategies that achieve company EBITDA objectives.
  • Establish “strategic view of the line” (SVL) targets for the division across price, wearing occasion and style life cycle; optimizing assigned assortment for Full Price and Outlet Business.
  • Direct and oversee MAP process for the division. 
  • Responsible for strategic direction of assigned line; which to categories to grow, maintain, or decline.
  • Approve assortment selection, product flow and pricing for the division. 
  • Pre-plan and manage workload and calendar adherence for the division.
  • Read and react to current business/trends, partner with planning on managing product selling life cycle.  Guide reaction to chase and optimize.
  • Thoroughly analyze divisional/departmental performance to inform future merchandising strategies.
  • Oversee preparation of seasonal business plans and postgame meetings.
  • Ability to spot emerging trends at a macro level and filter for the brand.
  • Establish naming conventions in partnerships with Legal, Creative and Design.
  • Partner with Creative, Visual and Marketing to create an exciting customer experience.
  • Ensure clear product messages are communicated and productivity is maximized.
  • Direct and oversee the delivery of clear, comprehensive product information to Creative and Marketing partners at a brand/divisional level. 
  • Pre-plan and manage workload and calendar adherence for the division.
  • Guide merchandising team to think critically, understand and translate product trends, and deliver high output while driving strong business results.
  • Mentor merchandising team with an eye toward succession planning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality.  Strive to build the best product.
  • Report and react to returns data and customer ratings/reviews.

Education/Experience Required:

  • 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Merchandising or other related field.
  • 10+ years of business and merchandising experience, preferably for a specialty vertical retailer
  • 5 years managerial experience, leading a team.
  • Excellent in person presentation skills.  Required to demonstrate a high level of confidence and point of view and poise in front of CEO and Senior Management.
  • Required to verbally articulate business strategy in to CEO and Senior Management.
  • Strong written communication skills.  Required to create BOD slides that clearly and accurately report business results and future projections.
  • Independently able to drive a business  and thrive in a fast paced, ever changing environment
  • Able to lead and inspire team with a high level of professional maturity.

  • Ability to listen, negotiate and resolve conflicts with all levels of management. 
  • Advanced knowledge of retail math
  • Strong Technical skills including but not limited to:  Outlook, Word, advanced Excel, and Power Point.
