    The Customs Compliance Analyst is part of the Import Department at Eddie Bauer Headquarters in Bellevue, WA.  The position supports all aspects of import and export compliance for both US and Canadian laws and regulations.  Responsibilities include classification, auditing, coordinating import/export shipments, and assisting the Import Manager on compliance processes and procedures.



     Core Accountabilities:

    • Responsible for classifications, valuation, and Partner Government Agency reporting of products for the US and Canada, to include apparel, footwear, accessories and gear
    • Researches product information and submits binding ruling requests to U.S. Customs when necessary
    • Works closely with customs brokers to ensure timely entry on import shipments
    • Helps evaluate and maintain qualifications for free trade agreement programs such as CAFTA-DR and JO-FTA
    • Maintains tariff databases with the customs broker and Eddie Bauer internal systems
    • Assists in developing compliance procedures for vendors and internal business processes
    • Participates in internal audits to assess the company's compliance with U.S. Customs and Canadian regulations, as well as Partner Government Agencies
    • Audit vendor import documents for compliance on first sale valuation and free trade agreement requirements
    • Manage the Company's import recordkeeping practices in accordance with customs regulations
    • Coordinates exports for Eddie Bauer and is the key contact for exporting issues on product moving from the US to other countries.
    • Interfaces with International, Real Estate, and IT groups to ensure timely exports
    • Contribute to compliance training across the organization
    • Evaluates and communicates the impact of compliance decisions across internal and external stakeholders

    Education/Experience Required:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • 3-5 years of apparel importing experience with some knowledge of exporting
    • Licensed Customs Broker a plus
    • Familiarity with import clearance processes and export procedures
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
    • Experience with Integration Point and Infor (GTNexus) a plus
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Highly motivated and independent worker with the ability to problem solve
    • Evaluates and communicates the impact of compliance decisions across internal and external stakeholders

    Physical Requirements:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

    • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as reach with hands and arms.
    • The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
    • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
    • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.


    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position.  As an International Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume.  This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
