  • Overview

    Responsible for the execution of merchandising business plans, meeting sales and margin goals, calendar adherence, and overall ownership of assigned market segment. Work closely with Product Management team to develop the strategic direction of the line.


     Core Accountabilities

    • Work closely with Product Line Manager to build category strategy aligned with strategic direction of the line that meets or exceeds financial objectives.
    • Manage, distribute and maintain all information of assigned category, including hang tags, workbooks, line lists and CAD books.
    • Execute business plans and adhere to calendars and budgets.
    • Prepare for and present during seasonal strategy meetings.
    • Thorough and demonstrated knowledge of all category product details.
    • Read and interpret merchandising reports and assimilate data/feedback to improve product line performance.
    • Work closely with Product Line Management leadership team to support the development of seasonal strategy.
    • Partner with Product Management leadership to Develop Product Line Plans.
    • Provide clear, comprehensive product information to Merchandise team, ensuring they have all product details needed to drive sales and margin.
    • Prepare for PR events, internally and externally. Present as necessary.
    • Provide and proof technical copy for online and catalogs; partner with merchandising team to relay the stories relevant to the product.
    • Prepare presentations and information to be used in seasonal product briefs and strategic Summit meetings.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of costing details (fabric, trim, CM), to impact solid decision making on product attributes.
    • Demonstrate good aesthetic judgment and brand understanding when developing the product line.
    • Primary interface with Design and Product Development.
    • Contribute to competitive analysis for division; maintain awareness of trends and competition and apply to Eddie Bauer.

    Education/Experience Required

    • 4 year degree in Retail Merchandising or related field.
    • 5-7 years related experience, preferably for a specialty retailer.
    • Understanding of key retail sales metrics and key merchandising requirements.
    • Proven ability to independently drive a business. 


    Physical Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as reach with hands and arms.
    • The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
    • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
    • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.
    • Hotel, Airplane, and Car Travel Required.


    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position.  As an International Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume.  This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
